How is correction of the cervical spine performed at Body Balance Clinic?

1. The standard treatment protocol for head joints dysfunction consists of two correction sessions lasting 90 and 60 minutes, which include work on the occiput, the suboccipital region of the neck and the cervicothoracic junction and are carried out in the order described below. If the patient has factors complicating treatment, a third and, in particularly severe cases, a fourth correction session lasting 60 minutes each may additionally be carried out.

In 80% of cases, treatment involves performing (!) two (!) “corrections”. After only one therapy session, a significant effect cannot be guaranteed.

2. The extended treatment protocol is designed, in addition to treating head joints dysfunction, for comprehensive work on the entire spine at once. It is suitable for patients with fibromyalgia and long-standing pain in the back muscles. It includes more extensive work on the muscles of the occiput and the suboccipital region of the neck. In addition, intensive work is done on the spasmed muscles of the cervicothoracic junction, the thoracic and lumbar regions and the gluteal region, with removal of fibrous tissue and trigger points. A more comprehensive and effective, but at the same time more unpleasant and painful treatment option.

With Body Balance Clinic “correction”, it is possible to restore full mobility of the cervical joints, with the head’s center of gravity balanced in relation to the axis of the spine. This method does not carry any risks, since it has nothing in common with rough neck manipulations. How is the first “correction” session structured?

The first appointment at Body Balance Clinic proceeds as follows:

First, there is a medical consultation reviewing the patient’s existing medical reports, examination results, and CT and MRI scans.

The doctor fills in a form with the patient’s personal data and questions the patient in detail about their symptoms.

This is followed by a brief explanation of the course of treatment: the doctor talks about restoring the functionality of the cervical spine and about the processes that the correction triggers in the body.

Next, a 3D computed tomography scan of the patient’s head and neck is performed, with reconstruction and a detailed examination.

Next, the patient is photographed from four sides on the Body Balance posture control system, and it is demonstrated how the existing posture disorders are related to the displacements of the cervical vertebrae detected on CT. The most loaded side of the skeleton is determined.

Next, a palpation examination of the cervical vertebrae and deep muscles is carried out, recording the patient’s sensations.

After this, special biomechanical testing, developed to identify deviations in biomechanics, is carried out.

If necessary, the neck muscles are prepared using two special devices with vibration resonance. The spasmed muscles are warmed up, filled with blood and deeply relaxed.

After thorough preparation of the neck muscles, correction of the cervical spine is performed to restore the mobility of the head joints.

If there are displacements of the cervical vertebrae, and depending on the initial condition of the neck muscles, procedures for derotation of the Atlas and Axis cervical vertebrae are additionally performed at the first, second and third “correction” sessions.

After the “correction”, the biomechanical tests are repeated to record improvements in the patient’s biomechanics and sensations.

The doctor sums up and gives the patient a form with recommendations that must be followed during the month after the correction so as not to interfere with the processes of recovery and regeneration.

The patient is also given a sheet with individual recommendations for accelerating the regeneration phase and for getting the body in order. It is advisory in nature.

How does the “correction” work?

The aim of the correction is to weaken the pathological compressive force of the deep muscles, which squeezes the base of the skull together with the first two cervical vertebrae and blocks the head joints. Correction makes it possible to normalize muscle tone and eliminate fibrous tissue. The resulting degree of freedom ensures good mobility in the joints and leads to the restoration of the head’s center of gravity. And this, in turn, causes cascading “readjustments” throughout the patient’s entire body.

During the “correction”, targeted pressure is applied to the muscles involved in controlling the head joints. The treatment uses equipment developed at Body Balance Clinic: a special stylus and two vibration devices that use a combined principle of resonance and modulation. These devices, combined with the doctor’s skill and knowledge, make it possible to effectively stretch and restore the tone of all layers of muscles and tendons, down to the deepest ones.

Correction makes it possible to achieve a therapeutic effect of neuromuscular regulation, which cannot be achieved by any other means.

How is the second “correction” session structured?

2 months after the first procedure, which are needed for the body’s biomechanics to “readjust” to the renewed center of gravity of the head, treatment continues with the second session. The second “correction” session at Body Balance Clinic proceeds as follows:

The doctor asks the patient about their well-being, comparing their current state of health with the previous one. The results of the first procedure are summed up: what has improved, what has not improved, and if something has improved, by how much. An analysis is made of how the body reacted to the “correction” overall. For this purpose, the doctor relies on the form filled in at the first session.

The doctor photographs the patient again from four sides on the Body Balance posture control system and compares the images with the photographs taken at the first session in order to highlight the postural changes that have occurred.

This is followed by a palpation examination of the cervical spine to check the condition of the muscles. The work of the head joints is checked.

A series of biomechanical tests is performed to make sure that the improvements in the patient’s biomechanics are stable after the first session. Deviations, if any, are recorded.

Depending on the condition of the muscles, the cervical spine is prepared using two special devices with vibration resonance. The muscles are filled with blood and deeply relaxed.

After preparation of the neck muscles, the second correction session is performed. The specialist concentrates on the remaining problem areas and works on the muscles selectively. This leads to improved functioning of the head joints and further changes in the body.

After the second “correction”, biomechanical tests are also carried out to monitor the progress of treatment.

Following the two corrections, a repeat CT scan of the cervical spine is performed to compare the results before and after the “correction”.

The doctor sums up and reminds the patient of the recommendations that must be followed during the two weeks after the correction so as not to interfere with the recovery processes.

If the patient follows an individual treatment schedule that uses additional procedures or involves dietary protocols, the doctor monitors the progress of treatment and gives their recommendations.

If the patient has factors complicating treatment, the third and fourth “correction” sessions are carried out in the same way.
